CRET Bursary Programme

Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) bursary provides financial aid for South African students pursuing undergraduate studies in priority fields such as science, engineering, commerce, education, and scarce skills.

Due to the high volume of bursary applications in South Africa, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Applications for the 2026 intake are currently closed.

When the next application cycle opens, it will be announced on the CRET website and official social media platforms.In the meantime, prospective applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria below to determine if they qualify for future opportunities.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES

Applicants who are shortlisted for the CRET bursary programme will be required to submit the following compulsory supporting documents for student funding verification:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document
  • Proof of household income below R650,000 per annum (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, or proof of pension/grant if applicable)
  • Proof of home address
  • Latest academic record (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Motivational letter for bursary application

Psychometric Assessment

As part of the CRET bursary selection process, applicants may be required to complete a psychometric assessment for student bursaries.

Only shortlisted bursary candidates will be required to complete the official psychometric evaluation
